Eric Barger is the Managing Director of Bolton Talent. With over 20 years of experience in leadership assessment, coaching, organizational effectiveness, strategic workforce planning, and organizational design, Eric is an expert in crafting effective talent strategies that align with business objectives. Eric uses a data driven approach to produce growth in leadership regardless of organizational level.
Eric has coached leaders at all levels across North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. He has worked across a wide-ranging set of industries and with a diverse set of clients in the public, private, publicly traded, and nonprofit sectors.
Eric is an accomplished and results-oriented executive, previously holding positions as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Chief Talent Officer (CTO), and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Eric has served a number of regional and national companies, including Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Constellation Energy, McCormick & Company, and Discovery Communications (Discovery Network). In his most recent role as CAO/CHRO of Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), Eric spearheaded the company’s strategy for cultural change and employee advancement, while also holding responsibility for employment law, internal communications, and facilities. In 2021, Eric established a successful human capital consultancy, Talent Lab. With a passion for education, Eric has also served as an adjunct professor in the University of Maryland system, where he has taught at the graduate school level on organizational change, talent assessment, and personnel selection.
Eric has been published in numerous journals, including Journal of Organizational Behavior and Journal of Occupational and Organizational Behavior, on topics ranging from psychological contracts to goal setting. He has spoken on panels at the University of Maryland Smith School of Business, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychologists. Eric served two years on a global DEIB taskforce addressing challenges in the travel industry.
Eric holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and both a master’s and doctoral degree in industrial/organizational psychology from George Mason University. He is certified in Hogan, MBTI, HBDI, Organizational Design Forum’s 7-step process, and ADKAR for change management.
